Amazon, BBVA, Globalfactor, Repsol and Verisk Maplecroft, companies invited to the first NEXUS congress of the Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
The meeting addressed the main challenges and opportunities for companies in the current context.

The students of the Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics organized the first edition of the NEXUScongress , a meeting where experts from different fields discussed the challenges, risks and opportunities facing companies today. Changes in the geopolitical scenario, the energy transition and investment strategies were some of the topics discussed.
The first session was position by Cristina Cartes Andrés, Public Policy Manager at Amazon Spain, and Gilbert Mateu, Public Affairs team member at BBVA. During the colloquium, they discussed innovation, regulation and partnership opportunities between the public and private sectors.
As they pointed out, technology companies have emerged as core topic drivers of digital Economics , transforming industries such as artificial intelligence and mobility. In this sense, the speakers pointed to the increasingly complex regulatory challenges that arise in this new context. As Cartes explained, Amazon collaborates with consumer organizations and customs agencies to combat fake reviews or even collaborates with other industries to dismantle counterfeiting networks globally. "Although not always covered by legislation, this work seeks to create a safer and more trustworthy environment for both businesses and consumers," he said.
For his part, Mateu underscored BBVA's policy of promote financial inclusion through technological innovation. Its purpose of "making the opportunities of this new era available to all" is reflected, he said, in initiatives such as the use of mobile to open bank accounts in areas with little infrastructure; or training senior citizens in the use of mobile devices, so that they can manage their finances autonomously and securely.
Before concluding, they shared some advice for students interested in public affairs, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinarytraining , reading comprehension, synthesis skills and the skill to translate complex issues into accessible language. They also stressed the need to acquire international experience and to adapt to an interconnected global environment.
The workshop continued with a dialogue between Kepa Solaun, founder and CEO of Global Factor and Javier Canalejo, head of International Relations at Repsol, who addressed various issues related to the energy sector, such as the impact of recent geopolitical events, the energy transition, emerging markets and the price of energy.
Jimena Blanco, chief analyst and global risk expert at Verisk Maplecroft, and Ricardo Gomez, lawyer and international consultant , took part in the last session. During the colloquium, they addressed issues such as the impact of geopolitics on the investment strategies of banks and companies; risk management in politically unstable environments; or the opportunities that exist in emerging markets.
