Cluster Group on Analytic TheologyThe Cluster Group on Analytic Theology: Philosophical and Theological Perspectives on Divine Providence, of the Schools of Philosophy and Letters, and of the Ecclesiastic of Philosophy.
Professor Stump gave two lectures. In the first, open to the general public and entitled 'Eternity, Simplicity and Presence', he showed the compatibility between the classical doctrines of theism about the eternity and simplicity of God with the affirmation of the possibility of God making himself present to man, through a knowledge staff not expressible in propositional mode.
In the second, addressed to the members of project and entitled 'The Opennes of God', he showed how divine foreknowledge can be based on the eternity of God, understood as simultaneity with all the instants of time, and how this approach is compatible with human freedom. The session was based on the critique and detailed analysis of the metaphysical proposals of philosophers such as Alvin Plantinga and William Hasker indicating the limitations of their explanation of divine foreknowledge. The two presentations were followed by long and intense discussions in which Professor Stump showed her great pedagogical capacity, making it evident that her approaches are based on a deep knowledge of the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas and Christian Revelation.
Additionally, during the first day of her visit, Eleonore Stump gave an interview in which she spoke about the importance and topicality of philosophical theology and commented on some central aspects of her work at area.
