The closing ceremony of the project Cultural Restoration of the Façade of the Cathedral of Pamplona was recently held, in which several professors and students of the University of Navarra participated. School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Also, numerous groups of professionals and students of Architecture and Engineering of Building have visited the works during its course.
The project was written by Professor Joaquín Torres Ramo and Verónica Quintanilla Crespo, who have also been in charge of the direction of the works.
position The facade plans, one of the many previous programs of study carried out, were drawn up by the students of the specialization program of Rehabilitation and Restoration of the School of Architecture, coordinated by Leopoldo Gil Cornet and Amaia Prat Aizpuru.
Students from the specialization program also participated in a competition to design the temporary exhibition to display the restored bells before they were placed back in the towers. The project by Bárbara Martínez Fernández and Mª Paz Díaz Díaz Díaz was the winner and was built.
The project Cultural Restoration of the Façade of the Cathedral of Pamplona has been the result of a partnership agreement between the Caja Madrid Foundation, the Government of Navarra, the City Council of Pamplona and the Archbishopric, and has allowed the restoration of the neoclassical façade of the cathedral of Pamplona, the work of the architect Ventura Rodriguez.
During the closing ceremony, a concert was held with the participation of the Cathedral's music chapel, shawm, ratchet and baroque organ, the municipal band La Pamplonesa, and the bell ringers of the Cathedral. Previously, the factory conference room was inaugurated, located in the old bell ringer's house, which aims to explain the construction of the façade, its cultural context, its use as a bell tower and the process carried out for its complete restoration.
