25 medical students and 15 professors from universities all over Spain participated in the I workshop Simulation for Medical Students organized by the Spanish Society of Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety (SESSEP) at the University of Navarra. The event, held at the Simulation Center of the School of Medicine, consisted in the implementation of different workshops and clinical scenarios.
Attendees are from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad de Barcelona, Universidad de Cantabria, Universidad Católica de Murcia, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Europea de Madrid, Universidad Francisco Vitoria, Universidad de Granada, Universidad de Murcia, Universidad del País Vasco, Universidad Pompeu Fabra and Universidad de Navarra.
"The goal of the workshop has been to favor the exchange of information and experience between different universities in Spain using simulation as a learning tool tool ", explained Dr. Nieves Díez, coordinator of the course. Thanks to simulation in medicine, "repeated training in different skills and competencies is possible without compromising patient safety".
At conference, workshops on cardiology, obstetrics and pulmonary auscultation were held. In addition, students participated in different scenarios such as shock, abdominal pain, polytrauma and even an activity related to communication between the medical team and the family and how to transmit bad news.
