"Players who have their financial rights assigned to an investment fund are known as golden slaves, due to the fact that they must follow the rules imposed on them by the funds in terms of club transfers, possible indications for match-fixing, etc.", explained Eduardo Sanz, lawyer and member of committee advisor of the CEO, to the students of the II specialist program in Sports Law in the third session, held last Friday.
This Friday the students of the II specialist program in Sports Law had their first session internship, it was a session on Investment Funds and CAS. The students were able to listen to the discussion paper of Eduardo Sanz and Esther Gil, member of committee of Sports Justice of Navarra, in which they talked about the current controversy about the investment funds that control the careers of some athletes. A reality that in Spain is on the rise: more than 5% of the players in the Professional Soccer League belong to investment funds. After discussion paper it was the turn of the students, who made their first internship on topic.
