Five graduates from the University ranked among the top 100 in the spanish medical residency program

98.84% of graduates from the School Medicine who sit the exam obtain one of the 9,276 places offered by the Ministry, and 40.3% are among the top 2,000.

Five graduates from the University of Navarra School Medicine have obtained a place the top 100 in thespanish medical residency program exam organized by the Ministry of Health, according to provisional results. Maider Manterola, from Pamplona, ranked issue ; Maite Losarcos, from Gorraiz, ranked 24th; and Javier Pérez de Gracia, from Cizur Menor, ranked 54th. They are followed by Valentín Merino, from Palencia, issue , and Álvaro Lasarte, from Pamplona, who ranked 97th.

98.89% of the School Medicine graduates who took the exam obtained one of the 9,276 places offered by the Ministry. 40.3% ranked among the top 2,000, while 78.5% ranked among the top 5,000.

"At the School very well trained; it's something that several of my classmates have mentioned," admits Maider Manterola. "Preparing for the exam only takes a few months and consists mainly of reviewing medicine so that it's more accessible on the day of the test. However, the knowledge has already been established long before that: it's the result years of study," she points out.

She acknowledges that the process is demanding: "It's months of stress, a lot of work, giving up plans you enjoy, but I was surrounded by people who had a positive attitude, and you end up catching that vibe."

Now, her first choice is gynecology, a decision she made in her fourth year of degree program. "I don't know where I'll do it yet, that's still to be decided," she says.

Sports and friends to help you cope with studying

Maite Losarcos, for her part, has not yet decided on a specialization program the city specialization program hospital where she will do her residency program, although she is certain that she will choose a specialization program . "I'm considering endocrinology, rheumatology, hematology, nephrology... I was waiting for the grade see what options I had. In terms of preparation, she says she has followed the same routine as during her six years of degree program: "When you've been working in a certain way for a long time, it's best to stick with it, because it's what has worked for you." In that process, sport has been core topic her. "I trained at least four times a week to clear my mind and also spent time reading or walking. In addition to the unconditional support of her parents, Maite is grateful for the training at the university: "We came out with a very solid foundation and were very well prepared for the exam." She particularly highlights the influence of two professors on her career, especially in the field of research: "Dr. Amaya Rodríguez and Dr. Gema Frühbeck have been fundamental throughout my preparation. They encouraged me to believe in myself and to take on challenges that I would not have undertaken without their support. I owe much of what I have achieved to them."

Javier Pérez de Gracia is also still unsure about specialization program he will choose. "The truth is that I like many: Traumatology, Otolaryngology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology... When I decide, I will then think about the hospital," he says. During this academic year, he has prepared for the spanish medical residency program Oviedo, together with several class, "which has made the months of study more bearable," although he assures us that he is well prepared for both the exam and his professional future. "I really appreciate the closeness of all the professors, who have taught us so much during these six years. I am especially grateful to Dr. Jesús Pueyo, who, in addition to being a professor of Radiology, has been my advisor the degree program has always been available answer any questions," he concludes.
