Speech by the sponsor of the graduating class:Professor Diego Zalbidea, sponsor of the graduating class, told them the following:
"Pope Francis, in the Bull convoking the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, told us that "Mercy is the main beam that supports the life of the Church. Everything in her pastoral action should be clothed in the tenderness with which she addresses believers; nothing in her advertisement and in her witness to the world can be devoid of mercy. The credibility of the Church passes through the path of merciful and compassionate love".
You, dear graduates of the fifty-third graduating class of the School of Canon Law of the University of Navarra, will soon make this mercy present through your service to the Church as canonists. The time you have spent in Pamplona is a very decisive investment of the Church for your training and I am sure that it will bear many fruits of service to the People of God".
In this regard, he reflected on the role of Canon Law at the service of the Church's mission statement , as well as the freedom and dignity of the person. Professor Zalbidea encouraged them to make a reality in their lives a committee of St. Josemaría, Founder of the University: "to serve the Church as she wants to be served. He emphasized the geographical diversity of the students, who come from nine countries: Brazil, Chile, Mexico, El Salvador, the United States, the Philippines, Guinea, Poland and Uganda. He encouraged the new graduates to continue to deepen their knowledge of the knowledge of Canon Law and to maintain the contact with the School, showing the availability of the faculty to continue advising them.
