Valentín Vázquez de Prada, Full Professor emeritus at the University of Navarra, celebrates his 100th birthday
He received a visit from the Dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters and from some professors of the History department

On March 31, Valentín Vázquez de Prada, Full Professor Emeritus of Modern History at the University of Navarra, turned 100 years old. To celebrate this anniversary, a group of professors of the department of History of the School of Philosophy and Letters visited him at his home in Pamplona: the dean, Julia Pavón; the director, Javier Andreu, and all the members of the Modern History area , accompanied by Professor Mercedes Vázquez de Prada.
The professor gave an excellent report: he recalled different stages of his life, in particular his years of training in Paris with Fernand Braudel, and the moment when he decided to leave the University of Barcelona, where he was Full Professor, to move to Pamplona, where he arrived in 1970, with the goal of promoting the then department of Modern and Contemporary History. Later, he was also Associate Dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra. He also evoked with affection the colleagues with whom he has worked throughout his long career, especially the recently deceased Ignacio Olábarri.
Taking stock of his life, Don Valentín said he felt privileged for everything he has received and for having celebrated his centenary, something for which he gives thanks "above all to God" but, as he added humorously, also to his "perseverance over many years of swimming".
Congratulations, Professor!
