Experts from 7 countries discuss the future of Africa at the III Development Week

Innovation in companies in countries at development, inclusive economic growth, elimination of inequalities, financial stability or migration, some of the topics to be addressed in this NCID activity.

Experts from universities and institutions in the U.S., Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Kenya, Nigeria and Spain will discuss the future of Africa at the University of Navarra during the III Development Week. Organized by the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), it will be held from June 2 to 6 under the title degree scroll Africa: a Promising Future.

During the week, guest speakers will present research on topics such as innovation in companies in countries in development, inclusive economic growth, elimination of inequalities, financial stability or migration. These presentations will provide a space for dialogue between experts and attendees.

Also, Prakarsh Singh, professor of Economics at Amherst College (Massachusetts, USA), will give a course on research in the world of development: techniques, areas of research, methodology, topics and challenges and opportunities.

Scientific solutions to eradicate extreme poverty

Some of the speakers are Jean Louis Arcand, director of the Center for Finance and development of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Switzerland); Robert Mudida, professor at Strathmore University Business School (Kenya); Marion Jansen, chief economist at the International Trade Center (Switzerland); Oded Stark, professor at the universities of Klagenfurt (Austria), Bonn (Germany), Tuebingen (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Warsaw (Poland) and Georgetown University (USA); and Guglielmo Caporale, of the Center for Empirical Finance at Brunel University (United Kingdom); and Guglielmo Caporale, of the Center for Empirical Finance at Brunel University (United Kingdom). The NCID is a group of research of the ICS committed to finding viable and sustainable solutions to the problems of human development in the most disadvantaged regions of the world. With a view to achieving the goals set out in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Declaration, the interdisciplinary team of researchers - including economists, political scientists and sociologists - seeks promote scientific solutions to situations of extreme poverty in developing countries development in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Through the applied research , the NCID seeks to generate ideas that solve chronic social problems associated with poverty. To achieve this, it focuses on three closely related areas: the quality of public and private institutions in each country, technology transfer and migration.

The center organizes an annual Development Week to promote among academics, experts and students for dialogue on issues related to development.
