On August 29, the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition welcomed 169 new students who will begin this year's Degree programs of study . Of these, 112 will take the Degree in Pharmacy, 39 will study Human Nutrition and Dietetics, while 18 will take the double Degree. The new students come from 18 different countries such as the United States, France, United Arab Emirates, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Kuwait, Morocco, Brazil, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Ecuador, Venezuela, Spain, Dominican Republic, Panama and Guatemala.
"The white coat, which is the first thing you have received at the beginning of your university studies, is a symbol that you are starting a degree program healthcare. And you are putting it on now because from this very moment you are beginning your work as pharmacists and dietitians-nutritionists," said the dean of the School, María Javier Ramíerez, while encouraging you to take advantage of the comprehensive training you will receive throughout the Degree program: "The scientific knowledge you will receive here is very good, but, without a doubt, what will make you different and what employers will be looking for when you finish this stage is all the human training . This will allow you to develop a critical spirit and an attitude of service, which are essential in a health profession.
Pedro González Muniesa, Associate Dean of Students, encouraged the new students to make an effort from the first day: "The purpose we have at the School is that you can transform the world, we want you to improve it and we aspire to be your support to achieve it. But for that we need a strong and solid lever: all your work and your academic and extracurricular training . That's why, if you start well from the first day, your chances of success increase".
During the workshop, students were able to learn about the organization of the School, its advisors and course coordinators. In addition, they had the testimony of students from higher courses, who gave some clues about the dynamics of study, attendance to class, how to face the exams or the activities offered by the University to face this new stage successfully.
New this year, the workshop culminated with a hackathon organized by Cinfa and Innovation Factory, the University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in which students, organized in teams, had to solve different pharmaceutical and nutritional challenges.
