To find out what reading comprehension is like in bilingual people, and whether the languages they know interfere with each other during reading. That is the goal that Roser Ferrer, a doctoral student at the School of Education and Psychology at the University of Navarra, has set out to do. "We want to analyze whether when a bilingual person reads a text in one of their languages, words or syntactic Structures of the other language are mixed up," says the researcher.
To this end, they are looking for volunteers between 18 and 35 years of age who want to participate in this study. As a requirement, these people must be bilingual, either from birth or from an early age, around 7 years old. "We are looking for people who speak Spanish-Catalan, Spanish-Basque, and Spanish-English," explains Ferrer.
"The test will last approximately 40 minutes, and will consist of reading some short texts, followed by an oral summary ," explains the researcher. This test can be done in person or at modality online.
To participate you must register and fill in the data at the following form.
This study is part of Roser Ferrer's doctoral thesis , which is directed by Gerardo Aguado, professor of the School of Education and Psychology at the University of Navarra, and José Antonio León, Full Professor of Basic Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
