The III Solidarity Walk "Murchante moves against cancer" will be held on Sunday, May 5. The event is organized by the association Murchante moves against cancer, the Skate Club and the City Council of the town, and has the main partnership of four companies in the Ribera, Impotusa, Repuestos agrícolas Mayoral, Rockwool and Transformados Ruiz, in addition to "la Caixa" and dozens of establishments in Murchante and other towns in Navarra. "This is the third edition of this charitable initiative but we continue with the same enthusiasm or more, as more and more companies and individuals join our march in favor of the research against cancer. This year we expect a turnout of around 3,000 people, who will be wearing red Murchante with their solidarity t-shirts," explains Virginia Salcedo, organizer of the event.

The funds raised, through registrations (5 euros), contributions from collaborating companies and the sale of products donated for the meeting, will go to a cancer vaccine project that is being developed at the Cima University of Navarra. "Thanks to the financial aid of this walk we continue to advance in the development of a vaccine that boosts immunity against cancer and that could be applied to patients with common tumors in our environment," explains Dr. Pablo Sarobe, researcher manager of project.

Three modalities

According to the organizers, "participants can do the walk by skating, running or walking. The most daring can even combine the three modalities". Depending on the level of each participant, the following schedules have been established:

• 10 h: Skates, initiation level.

• 10.30 h: degree program, initiation level.

• 11 h: Skates, advanced level.

• 11.45 h: degree program, advanced level.

• 12.30 h: 5 km walk along the local urban circuit.

In addition to the sporting events, throughout the morning there will be different activities, inflatables and face painting for children, tasting of local products, as well as a raffle of more than 200 gifts donated by the collaborators.

Those interested in collaborating in this solidarity walk against cancer can register at sports center tomorrow, Wednesday May 1 from 11 am to 1 pm and from 5 to 7 pm, during a skating championship, and on Saturday May 4 from 11 am to 1 pm, at the civic center of Murchante.
