Professor Alejandro Vigo, award Jannone 2017 from Philosophy
The ceremony of submission of this international recognition to scholars of classical thought will take place on November 27th.

Alejandro Vigo, professor at School of Philosophy and Letters, has been recognized with the award International de Philosophy "Antonio Jannone", awarded by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. This international recognition is submission every three years to scholars of classical thought, especially in the Aristotelian field. On this occasion, the act of submission will be held on November 27 at the classroom Álvaro del Portillo of the Roman university, and Professor Vigo will give a lecture lecture , entitled degree scroll Physics in Aristotelian thought.. After that day, the professor will begin a short course of ten lessons on this subject, which will end on December 1.
D. in Philosophy from the University of Heidelberg, Professor Vigo is currently a professor in the department of Philosophy at the University of Navarra. Previously, he has been a professor at the universities of Buenos Aires, Los Andes (Santiago, Chile), and Universidad Católica de Chile (Santiago). The scholar of Aristotle's thought is the author of numerous books and articles, such as: Zeit und Praxis bei Aristoteles. The awardThe award Jannone was created and sponsored by Mons. Jannone (Lauro di Nola,1906 - Rome 2007), who was an Aristotelian scholar, professor at the Sorbonne and renowned mainly for his critical edition of the De anima. In 2001, Prof. Jannone granted the direction of award to the School of Philosophy of the Holy Cross.
Until then, the award had been awarded to Renato Laurenti, Jacques Brunschvig and Klaus Oehler. Since then, the recognition, which became triennial, was received by Professor Giovanni Reale (2002), Enrico Berti (2005), Richard Bodéüs (2008), Terence Henry Irwin (2011) and Carlo Natali (2014). This year, 2017, Professor Vigo joins this list.
