Professor María Jesús Álvarez has been appointed director of the ISSA School of Management Assistants at the University of Navarra. She replaces María del Mar Araluce at position , who will assume the position of General Manager at ISEM.

María Jesús Álvarez is an agricultural engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where she also obtained the Degree doctorate. For her doctoral thesis she was awarded the award de research Manuel Alonso, granted by the high school of Agricultural Engineers and the Autonomous Community of Castilla La Mancha.

In 1992 she joined the School of Engineering - Tecnun in San Sebastian, where she has taught subjects of area of Industrial Organization at Degree and doctorate. From 1996 to 2003 she was director of the department of Organization of Tecnun, and coordinator of the Chair of Quality Volkswagen Navarra between 1998 and 2007.

In 2008 she obtained the accreditation of the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation as full professor of Business Organization.

María Jesús Álvarez has worked in industrial projects and research in the area of quantitative methods applied to productivity and quality improvement. The results have been published in international scientific journals. She is also the author of several books, including Breakthroughs in quality management of higher education (publishing house Thomson, 2007) and Métodos cuantitativos aplicados a la toma de decisiones (publishing house EUNSA, 2006).

In addition, Professor Álvarez has made stays of research at Imperial College London and at the Centre International de Hautes Etudes Mediterraneennes (France).
