Bilbao, the capital of Bizkaia, becomes from Monday 29th to Friday July 3rd, the 'world capital of thought' in an event that will bring together more than 2,000 people from 43 countries attending the congress.

In the congress will participate on the part of the School from Education and Psychology the dean, Concepción Naval, with a discussion paper this Wednesday (11.45h-12.45h) on the 'Education aesthetics through museums', and Professor Sonia Lara, who is part of the scientific committee of the event.

Yesterday afternoon the official inauguration took place at the Euskalduna Palace, presided over by the lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, who welcomed the public and expressed the interest of the Basque Government in this congress that "strengthens the Education", highlighting the "virtuous triangle" that it forms with youth and the future. 

First interventions

The interventions of the first workshop ran to position the American psychologist educational Joseph Renzulli, specializing in people with high abilities (gifted), coming to advise the White House on strategies Education for this group. Renzulli yesterday focused his discussion paper on the identification and development of creative and productive talent.

For his part, David Perkins, one of the driving forces behind ICOT and co-director emeritus of Harvard's project Zero, gave a 'master class' yesterday entitled 'Making the most of the mind in the educational challenges of the 21st century'.

Finally, award Prince of Asturias Social Sciences 2011, Howard Gardner concluded the first workshop with the lecture 'The good work in the digital age'. Gardner, who spoke via videoconference in one of his very few public appearances, showed his concern about the lack of training of young people in the face of the impact of new technologies in the field educational.
