Francisco Varo, named University Chaplain of the University of Navarra

Francisco Varo has been appointed University Chaplain of the University of Navarra, position , which until now was occupied by Narciso Sánchez.
Born in Cordoba in 1955, he is professor of Sacred Scripture at the School of Theology, of which he was Dean (1998-2004), and chaplain of research center Applied Medicine (CIMA). He studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has a doctorate in Theology (Sacred Scripture) from the University of Navarra and in Trilingual Biblical Philology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, as well as graduate in Mathematics from the University of Malaga.
Professor Varo is a member of the team of translators of the Holy Bible at the University of Navarra and is the author of widely distributed works such as Rabbi Jesus of Nazareth (BAC, 2005) and ¿Sabes leer la Biblia? ( Planeta, 2006).
Narciso Sánchez (Badajoz, 1950), who occupied the position of University Chaplain since 1999, will be from now on director of the Chaplaincy service of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He replaces Miguel Ángel Monge (Avila, 1940), who has held the position since 1982 and is retiring.
graduate in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville (1972) and doctorate in Philosophy from the School of Philosophy Ecclesiastical of the University of Navarra (1999), he was ordained a priest in 1976. Professor of Ethics at School of Law and of Theology at School of Communication, he was also chaplain of School of Law.

In addition, Professor Sergio Sánchez-Migallón (Madrid, 1965) has been appointed director of the high school of Anthropology and Ethics (IAE) of the University of Navarra. position Sergio Sánchez-Migallón succeeds Professor Miguel Lluch (Valencia, 1959), who has held the position since 2001 and who will now continue his teaching and research duties.
The new director of the IAE is graduate in Philosophy by the Complutense University of Madrid, and doctor in Philosophy (Ecclesiastical Fac. of Philosophy and Fac. of Philosophy and Letters) by the University of Navarra. In 1999 he joined the Ecclesiastical School of Philosophy, where he has been Professor since 2006 and Associate Dean since 2007.
His publications include numerous articles, book chapters and translations, and include works such as The Ethics of Franz Brentano, The Ethical Personalism of Dietrich von Hildebrand, The Human Person and his training in Max Scheler, Philosophical Ethics. An introductory course and From Neuroscience to Neuroethics. Scientific narrative and philosophical reflection, written together with Professor José Manuel Giménez Amaya.
The IAE reports to Office of the Executive Council and coordinates the teaching of the subjects of Anthropology and Ethics in all Schools and schools of the University.
