Joan Gubert and Flavio Lercari do not know each other; Joan graduated last year in law and Flavio is in his first year of law school Degree. But they both share a common concern: they want to "train themselves to understand disability". For this reason, they will attend the training course organized by Tantaka, now in its fourth edition.

Flavio learned about conference thanks to the University's Solidarity Time Bank and Joan, thanks to her friend Marta, who has a disability that prevents her from walking, "although herdrive to live a life without limits is admirable".

What is striking about the course?

Joan: I believe that in this life there is room for all of us and each one of us must be involved so that limitations are not the cause of living with less dignity.

Flavio: The course deals with a topic that is not talked about every day and it is a good opportunity to learn about it. In addition, in the sessions there will be guests who have gone through or are going through this status; it will be very interesting to hear their testimonies and learn from them.

Why is it interesting for law students?

J: It is important that we train ourselves, both professionally and academically, on how to treat and help people with disabilities, because society is the sum of all of us. From the world of law it can be interesting because in the exercise of the profession a more humane vision is necessary.

F: It is important for anyone, but especially for those who study law, because a large part of their work will be based on it. It allows you to see working life from another point of view.

Is society aware of disability?

J: In the modern world, individualism sometimes prevails and limits people with disabilities. You only have to look at the difficulties that are created in the student, professional and day-to-day life. But her life is an example in itself.

F: Learning about disability is very important for a society to function better; it is core topic that its members accept each other as they are. In the working world it is evident whether society is aware or not, and I think courses like this one are perfect to achieve this.
