The School of Nursing has organized different activities over the next few weeks aimed at promoting the search for employment among its students. How to prepare a good resume or how to communicate are some of the keys that will be explained in the various sessions. Rocío Núñez, manager of Employability of the academic center, has told us what these initiatives consist of.
What is the goal of the different actions related to employment to be implemented?
To make it easier for our students to arrive at the labor market well prepared, not only academically, but also ready to face a search process for employment and selection. In addition, we try to guide them from the first courses so that they take advantage of the opportunities that the University offers them and complete their curriculum with courses, activities, international experience, volunteer activities, entrepreneurship, partnership with Tantaka or internship volunteer.
Why do you think it is interesting for students to participate in them?
Because financial aid helps them to get to know themselves better and to reinforce those human, social and relational aspects they need to acquire in order to successfully perform their professional work .
Sometimes it is believed that the training on issues such as curriculum or communication have more to do with other professions than perhaps with a health profession, why do you think this is not so or in other words, why are they relevant in Nursing?
I think that especially in Nursing they have importance because it is a degree program with many professional profiles and it is important for them to know for which specialties or areas they are more qualified and for which ones they need reinforcement.
Finally, students in the first years may see their professional future as distant, so why should they be trained from the first year?
Because financial aid helps them to build their career path from the first years. In this way they can have a vision of the future to organize themselves. I am not only referring to the choice of electives, but also when deciding in which summer to participate in a solidarity project or when to do a overseas study period, or internship volunteer in a specific specialization program and when to take advantage of the opportunity to get a driving license or language certificates. The goal is always to train and inform students so that they can make the most important decisions in their professional lives.
