The symbols of the workshop World Youth Day at the University of Navarre

The Youth Cross and the Icon of Our Lady will preside over a Eucharist at CUN and a meeting on the esplanade of Social Sciences.

On Thursday, September 2, from noon to 3 p.m., the Cross and the Icon of Our Lady, symbols of the workshop World Youth Day (WYD), will be at the University.

At 12 noon, they will preside the Mass at the Clinic. Afterwards, they will go down to the esplanade of Social Sciences, where, starting at 1 p.m., there will be a meeting with the Youth, to which all the people of the University who wish to attend can go to attend . The event will also be broadcast live on 98.3 Radio.

Following the style of the WYD, the event will have a first part, in which the presenters will introduce the people who come to the place with various stories and memories, conduct brief interviews and give details about development of the event.

The second part will begin with the arrival of the Cross and Icon. Once they are installed on the stage, their history will be told; and at purpose of their journey around the world, since Pope John Paul II gave them to young people as symbols of these conference World Youth Days, participants of previous WYD will be interviewed. Afterwards, a passage from the Gospel will be read and one of the chaplains of the University will explain the meaning of the conference and present the 2011 WYD in Madrid. After a brief prayer, the event will conclude at 2:15 pm. 

The Youth Cross and the Icon of the Virgin will remain in Pamplona all day Thursday, visiting various parishes in the city. Afterwards, they will travel to other places in Navarra and will return to Pamplona on Saturday for a Way of the Cross and a prayer vigil in the chapel of St. Fermin. On Sunday, a Eucharist will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral, presided by the Archbishop, D. Francisco Pérez González.
