The development of students as individuals, in addition to the rigorous academic training , constitutes the primary goal of the University of Navarra's institutional mission statement . In this sense, mentoring is an indispensable element of the University's project educational .
Mentoring at the University of Navarra is a process of accompaniment and learning in which a professor mentor financial aid , guides and guide, with his experience and knowledge, a student or mentee, so that he can develop his potential and make the most of all aspects of university life, discovering horizons beyond the strictly academic: cultural life, sports, solidarity and the development staff offered by the University.
From the beginning of programs of study, each student is assigned a teacher who will accompany him/her as mentor throughout the university stage. This takes the form of interviews that can be arranged at the initiative of the mentor or the mentee.
Features
EN STAFF
It provides accompaniment, committee and guidance on an individualized basis. Each student receives specific support tailored to their particular needs and circumstances, ensuring a approach focused on their development staff and professional.
IT'S FREE
It is not evaluable and is not part of the academic curriculum . Unlike tutoring and other teaching activities that may be mandatory and evaluable, mentoring is based on the student's freedom staff to participate voluntarily, without academic pressure, which fosters an environment of genuine growth.
IS ENHANCING
It does not supplant student initiative and responsibility, but rather fosters and develops them. Through mentoring, students are encouraged to take an active role in their own learning and development, acquiring skills to anticipate and manage future challenges autonomously.

Ensuring a good study method
As a starting point, the student may fill in a questionnaire to think about it and, if he wants, share it with his mentor.
University integration
One of the functions of mentor is to provide students with information to help them integrate into the University: their identity and their statement of core values. The mentor can provide the student with information material and deal with questions of interest.
Professionals from day one
Being a university student implies a way of being, presenting oneself and behaving, which translates into concrete attitudes that prepare for future professional life. It is not just a matter of establishing general rules; these aspects must be incorporated through personal development , sometimes with the help of financial aid and the support of mentor.
Involvement and participation
Culture, sport, solidarity and the different activities that take place at campus are part of university life. The habit of knowledge and academic reflection is an important part of university life, as is that of the "university experience", through activities that allow people to relate to other university students with whom they have common interests to share. The mentor can help to discover this experience, which does not distract from studies, but rather reinforces them.
University mentoring is one of the pillars core topic on which the project educational of the University of Navarra is based. Our University has extensive experience in mentoring, with the figure of the professor "advisor" since its beginnings.
The Mentoring Unit was created with the aim of bringing together more than 60 years of mentoring experience of the professors of the University of Navarra and has among its functions:
Generate high-impact knowledge on university mentoring.
Develop new resources involving mentors and students.
Disseminate the mentoring program to student body and conduct training programs for mentors.
Help other universities to better train their students.

Dissemination of knowledge, at the University of Navarra and other universities.
COMMUNITY
Creation of a mentoring community, based on sharing mentoring practices. They are the main source of update of content and training for mentoring.

The competencies and their development are the basis of this mentoring program, which aims at having the student who seeks to improve analyze his or her behavior in order to make a diagnosis of his or her competencies and suggest proposals for reflection and action.
