Carmen Pinillos, professor in department Philology at the School Philosophy Letters, has published the book Calderón de la Barca y la Loa a la Hermandad del Refugio. Edición y programs of study la dimensión religiosa, política y literaria de Calderón (Calderón de la Barca and the Loa to the Brotherhood of Refuge. Edition and programs of study the religious, political, and literary dimensions of Calderón). The work, published under the imprint of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, is an academic tribute to Calderón de la Barca, but also to a charitable institution that has been doing commendable work on behalf of the most needy for more than four centuries: the Hermandad del Refugio.

This institution, to which Calderón himself belonged and in which he held various government positions, received a literary tribute from the great Golden Age author, who dedicated a eulogy to it, which is republished here by Professor Pinillos. Lucille Soler (University of Toulon) includes chapters that unearth and reconstruct unknown aspects of the historical Calderón through all the archival documentation on the author preserved in the rich collections of the Brotherhood. Pablo Sánchez Garrido (San Pablo CEU University) contributes pages that interweave his spiritual and charitable dimension with the intense social and political life of his time.

The presentation place on January 19 in the conference room the Brotherhood (Madrid), chaired by the Grand Master, Mr. Fernando Ramírez de Haro y Valdés, Count of Bornos, who also wrote the foreword to Issue.
