The Science Museum of the University of Navarra will celebrate World Environment Day with online activities for all audiences.

The scientific institution has organized a webinar with environmental experts and an online drawing activity for children.

The Science Museum of the University of Navarra will celebrate World Environment Day (June 5) in a different way. This year the face-to-face activities - workshops for children, sessions, or exhibitions of its collection - are replaced by online activities. "The central topic of this day is biodiversity. We want to make society aware of the importance of caring for the environment and protecting biodiversity, and so we have planned activities in this direction and, of course, online due to the current circumstances," says Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

The Science Museum proposes for Friday, June 5, a webinar at 12:00 noon with the degree scroll "Environment in times of pandemic" that will feature three specialists in different areas related to the natural environment. 

Jesús Miguel Santamaría
Jesús Miguel Santamaríadirector of the high school of research in Biodiversity and Environment of the University of Navarra, will speak on "The Biodiversity and Environment".Atmospheric pollution in times of confinement"and will analyze the evolution of contamination in the different European countries as a consequence of the pandemic. 

Enrique Baquero
For its part, Enrique Baquerozoologist and professor at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, will address the concepts of Zoonosis and Ethology in his session on "Zoonosis and Ethology".Animals, humans and their interactions". 

 

Kepa Solaun
Kepa SolaúnEconomist and general manager of Factor CO2, director , will analyze the impact that the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis will have on greenhouse gas emissions in his session on "The impact of the pandemic on greenhouse gas emissions".COVID-19 and Climate Change". This webinar, which is scheduled to last one hour, can be followed via the ZOOM platform and will be broadcast live by the YouTube channel cienciasunav.

On the other hand, the Science Museum also wants to awaken curiosity for nature in the youngest. At 6:30 pm, will begin the online workshop for children "Draw with Samlo: discover biodiversity". Santiago López, Samlo, is a professional designer and illustrator and student of Audiovisual Communication at the University of Navarra, and for an hour and average will teach children between 6 and 12 years old to design animated characters through Google's tool Meet.
