Roncesvalles will be the setting for the next class activity of the Chair of Navarrese Heritage and Art.

The workshop will focus on the daily life and music of the collegiate church.

Next Saturday, June 5, at 12h., the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the School of Philosophy and Letters will resume its class activity with a workshop dedicated to the daily life and music of the collegiate church of Roncesvalles. 

The event, sponsored by the Government of Navarre and with the partnership of the Royal Collegiate Church, will count with the intervention of Julián Ayesa, organist of the cathedral of Pamplona, and Ricardo Fernández Gracia, director of the Chair of Heritage and Art of Navarre. The idea is to combine circumstances and themes with ad hoc scores, in the church of the collegiate church that has been celebrating since last year a Jubilee Year commemorating the VIII Centenary of the consecration of the temple.

The program, which will combine music and the explanation and gloss on various topics related to the ordinary and extraordinary life of the collegiate church, is as follows:

  • WINTER RIGOURS: The Winter of Vivaldi

  • THE LEGENDARY: Echo of the valley by José M.ª Beobide

  • PILGRIM: Improvisation of Dum pater familias, Libro Vermeil Montserrat and Cantiga de Alfonso X el Sabio (Canticle of Alfonso X the Wise)

  • BELLS: In the garden of a monastery, Ketelbey

  • HUNTING: Great Battle of Marengo, Anonymous, c. 1800

  • ROYAL VISITS: Minuet of the March for the Kingdom entrance

  • THE DEATH: Bellini's Organ Sonata

  • SEPTEMBER FESTIVALS: Variations on Magnificat by Miguel Echeveste

The entrance is free until fill in capacity is reached.
