350 boys and girls from Navarra, aged between 3 and 14 years, have participated this summer in the VII edition of the "Cienceando" camps, promoted by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra in partnership with the Caja Navarra Foundation and the Chair Sanitas Health and Environment of the BIOMA Institute.

The Nature camps took place outdoors on the campus of the University of Navarra where the children were able to explore the environment, observe plants and animals, and better understand the ecosystems around them, in an active and experiential way. Through games, practical workshops and group dynamics they worked on cooperation, imagination, artistic expression, movement, coexistence and curiosity.

The biology camp activities dealt with a different theme each day, allowing the children to discover nature from different perspectives. Among other things, participants learned about the importance of maintaining good air and water quality and the direct impact this has on people's health. The schoolchildren learned this knowledge through group dynamics, experimental workshops, outdoor explorations and art projects.

"Our camps are conceived as a laboratory of didactics, where environmental Education is central. Through activities in nature, participants experience different ways of learning and acquire tools to better understand their environment and the value of caring for it," says Marie-Anne Reynell, director of development at the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

On the other hand, the schoolchildren who participated in the Chemistry camps had an approach to the more everyday and fun Chemistry through the realization of scientific experiments carried out in a laboratory.

"Cienceando" are the urban camps of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra, aimed at kindergarten and elementary school children, and are designed as a fun way to spend the summer learning and enjoying science. The learning program has been designed by Chemistry teachers and the Science Museum team, and is taught by students from the Degrees Science and Education of the University of Navarra.
