The University of Navarra has presented an animated video to raise awareness about the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. Its main promoter, Gonzalo Arrondo, who is a researcher at the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) and teaches teaching at Education and Psychology, reminds that 2.8% of the adult population suffers from ADHD.

"The 4-minute short film tells the story of a young man whose impulsivity leads him to a recklessness that causes him to have an accident. It delves into the story before and after that critical moment," Arrondo explains. The aim is that people who are not diagnosed "can identify with some of the traits of the protagonist and the situations he experiences", he says, so that they are encouraged to consult a professional about their case.

He explains that many adults with ADHD have never been diagnosed. "Many people with ADHD agree that naming it is a great relief. It explains a part of their history staff that has often caused them suffering," he says.

The video also aims to raise public awareness about adults with ADHD. "financial aid to better understand that, although ADHD is a way of being intrinsic to the person and, in general, has accompanied them throughout their lives, it can have negative consequences for those who suffer from it", points out the researcher of group 'Mind-brain' of the ICS. "We need more understanding and financial aid towards these men and women to help them live as full a life as possible.

The video is part of research projects of the ICS funded by the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness of the Government of Spain and UNED Pamplona. It has also received support from Fundación Caja Navarra and Obra Social "la Caixa".
