The Science Museum of the University of Navarra takes to the streets on World Environment Day
On Saturday, day 5, there will be guided tours of the Museum and environmental workshops for children such as "Draw Nature" or "What animals!"
On the occasion of World Environment Day, which is celebrated on Saturday, June 5, the Science Museum of the University of Navarra will take to the streets to show some of its most outstanding specimens on the esplanade of Sciences Building.
The activity, which will begin at 12 noon and end at 2 p.m. with an aperitif, will be complemented by guided tours of the entire Museum collection, at position by teachers and students of the School Science.
Children will also be able to participate in several environmental workshops, such as "Draw nature", where they will make environmental drawings; "Build a crocodile", consisting of making animals with beads; and "What animals!", which will focus on the observation of sponges, corals or starfish through a binocular magnifying glass.
The Museum of Natural Sciences of the University of Navarra, constituted in 1980 from several donated collections -such as that of the Capuchins of Lecároz- and its own funds, houses more than nine thousand specimens of diverse species of animals and minerals; as well as old containers, texts, tools and apparatuses once used in pharmacy, Chemistry and photography. The Botanical Herbarium and the Zoology Museum are also part of the collection. The latter, with more than 2,500,000 specimens of invertebrates, is the second most important collection in Spain, only surpassed by the National Museum of Natural Sciences of the CSIC.
Open to the public, those who would like to take a guided visit next Saturday can send an email to ciencias@unav.es.
