32 students of the International Program in Medicine participate in the I Summer Course

The course was held at IESE's Barcelona campus from June 24 to 27.

32 students of 1st year of Medicine of the University of Navarra have participated in the first edition of the Summer Courseorganized by the academic direction of the International Program of the School of Medicine. The students who are part of this pioneering program participated in this intensive course that was held at IESE's Barcelona campus from June 24 to 27..  

Throughout the three conference, the teaching ran to position of the Dr. De Andrea and of the Dr. Knightboth professors of the University College of London (UCL), by Professor Miriam Las Herasassistant professor at IESE and Dr. Mengualdirector of the department from Anatomy of the University of Navarra.

The students attended classes that combined with a previous work staff and the subsequent sharing with practices in the classroom. They took different subjects such as Lidership skills, Anatomy and Histology of Human Sensesas well as History and examination: the foundation for diagnosis and treatmentThe latter subject taught through the methodology of problem-based learning (PBL).

Along with the academic content, the students dedicated average workshop to visit the Sagrada Familia, whose explanations were given by the architect and president of the Foundation for the Beatification of Antonio Gaudí, José Manuel Almuzara, at position . In the words of Johnny Chart, student of the International Program, "knowing firsthand all the history of how each architectural element that makes up the basilica is designed has brought us much closer to the genius of Gaudí.". In addition, during the tour, Japanese architect Etsuro Sotoo conveyed to group "the profound impact that his participation in such a unique architectural project had on his life."and dedicated his book to the Dr. Secundino Fernández, Dean of the School.

The program's academic director , the Dr. Juan Ponscommented that this activity has been a unique occasion, with classes and conference of an essentially practical contentand developed in small groups. In addition, students were able to meet with teachers from other cultures and with their peers from the International Program.

The School de Medicina plans to organize the next edition of the Summer Course outside Spain.
