"Suicide is the leading cause of death in children under 40 in Spain and is associated with excessive use of screens, early exhibition to cell phones and pornography addiction," warned yesterday the Full Professor in Public Health at the University of Navarra Miguel Angel Martinez-Gonzalez, in a session that took place in Tecnunthe School of Engineering of the University of Navarra. In addition, during the session, Miguel Ángel Martínez-González explained that his latest book, "Salmones, Hormones and Screens", aims to make parents aware of the mental health problem caused by cell phones in their children . "I believe that they are not sufficiently aware and that there are sometimes naive attitudes in parents". For this reason, he encouraged the attendees to learn about this reality that the "best epidemiological" and public health science has been highlighting. 

When asked about the appropriate age for submit a cell phone to a child, Martínez-González replied that: "Smart parents give dumb phones", at least without Internet connection. And he gave an example: "Just as we are not allowed to drive until we are 18, that age would seem to me to be a good age for young people to have their first device with Internet access".
