Silver medal in women's wrestling
Maialen Guelbenzu (3rd Biochemistry ) has been proclaimed sub-champion of Spain under-23 women's wrestling in 60 kg.

Maialen Guelbenzu, student of 3rd year of Biochemistry of the School of Sciences and member of the program Talento Deportivo of the University of Navarra -program oriented to help students to make compatible a high level sports degree program with the university programs of study - has obtained the second place in the last Championship of Spain sub-23 of female wrestling modality 60 kilos, celebrated in the Center of high performing of CSD of Madrid.
For Maialen, who has been practicing judo since she was eight years old and wrestling since she was 12, it is perfectly compatible to combine a degree program like Biochemistry with internship for competitive sports: "The important thing here is to know how to organize yourself well and make time for everything, even if there are times when it's harder. That's what happens to me around the time of final exams. Then I dedicate more time to studying than to training".
In his opinion, "studying does not mean leaving all other things aside, much less sport. In fact, I believe that sport is necessary. financial aid both mentally and physically, and everything it brings is beneficial, although at the time we may not be aware of it".
On the other hand, Maialen recognizes that in the future she will not live from sport, "but from my programs of study. In Spain, moreover, it would be impossible. That's why I think more about a future dedicated to teaching or clinical analysis, which are the fields that interest me most. In any case, wrestling for me is not just a sport, it is my sport, and I would like to continue to be linked to it as long as I can. Just as I now train at the same time as I study, I hope to continue to do so when I start working".
On the results obtained in the Spanish championship, Maialen recognizes that she would have liked to achieve the gold medal, "but this year I had to study more than train and I was aware that my expectations could not be the same. In spite of everything, I am very happy with the result", culminates the future Biochemistry .
