“The Periodic Suitcase”is an initiative by the Chemistry knowledge dissemination Education knowledge dissemination Chemistry promotes the School of Science, in partnership the University of Navarra Science Museum, and whose goal to bring Chemistry closer Chemistry new generations through experimentation in schools.
Each suitcase contains the chemical reagents needed to perform 40 experiments and also includes a book of protocols that serves as a guide for school teachers to carry out the experiments in the laboratory. The proposed experiments, based on 26 of the different elements of the periodic table, address concepts related to Chemistry that can be applied to different levels of knowledge.
In 2025, the School of Science this project 29 elementary and secondary schools in various provinces across Spain. Among the participating schools are the Peñacorada high school (León), high school Cristóbal high school (Castellón), Liceo Europa (Zaragoza), high school Altozano high school (Alicante), high school (Zaragoza), Deutsche Schule (San Sebastián), high school (Murcia), high school (Castellón), Institució La Vall (Barcelona), high school Aristos high school (Madrid), the International School San Patricio (Toledo), Aixa-Llaüt (Palma de Mallorca), high school Montecastelo high school (Pontevedra), the International School (Navarra), high school de Granda high school (Asturias), high school -elTomillar (Badajoz), IESO Berriozar DBHI (Navarra), high school Ahlzahir high school (Córdoba), high school Sansueña high school (Zaragoza), Abat Oliba Loreto (Barcelona), high school (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), La Salle Buen Pastor (Cádiz), Albaydar (Seville), high school Miralba high school (Pontevedra), high school Sagrado Corazón de Jesús high school (Valladolid), La Salle (San Sebastián), IES Fernando Esquío (La Coruña), high school Pastora high school (Madrid), and high school (Cádiz).
In addition to these centers, Serveis Educatius Alt Empordà (Girona) has applied for two periodic suitcases to promote Chemistry in its geographical area. Schools, institutes and institutions can apply for the suitcase through the "La maleta periódica" website.
The project "The Periodic Suitcase" was born in 2019 -the year in which the 150th anniversary of the creation of the periodic table by the Russian chemist Dimitri Mendeleev was celebrated- promoted by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra and had the partnership the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
