Science "chewed up" at a University summer course

During one week, several experts will speak about artificial intelligence, bioelectricity or the Chemistry of art.

Next Monday, the 13th, begins at the University of Navarra a summer course that aims to show basic science issues in an informative and accessible way for any audience.

A position of professors of the School of Sciences, "Hard sciences chewed" will address current issues such as artificial intelligence, or how to bring human reasoning closer to machines; and physics applied to the evacuation of enclosures, where it will be shown why rushing is not good, what happens when people push each other or do not leave in an orderly manner.

On the other hand, experts, researchers and professors will also explain the role of mathematics in popular culture, cinema and literature; the great contributions of modern physics, from nuclear energy to many of the medical advances we know and enjoy today; or the role of bioelectricity, already present in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs or in the Roman Empire and one of the most promising fields of biophysics.

The talks, with an eminently informative character, will show through experiments some scientific topics that are considered complex, such as the role of the Chemistry in the study of Art, the peculiarities of crystals and why some of them have healing properties, and even Physics experiments that can be done at home together with the children.

The sessions will take place until Friday 17th at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, from 16 to 18h. and from 18 30 to 20 30h. For university students, the attendance may be validated 0.5 credits ECTS credit and for the rest of the public will be issued the corresponding certificate of participation. Those who wish to attend can still reservation their place.

"Hard sciences chewed" is the first of the summer courses of the universities of Navarra, which will be held during the months of June, July, August and September at position of the three Navarra campus .
