"As long as the technique is adequately distinguished from the content, and the latter prevails for its quality, fidelity and depth, the new technologies are not only a good ally to spread the message of the Church, but they are an essential means". So said Angel Marzoa, President of seminar of Tui-Vigo, who participated in the XXVI Course of update in Canon Law of the University of Navarra with the discussion paper "training of the candidates to the priesthood and discernment of their suitability".

Regarding the topic of his speech, he explained that the Church is aware of the need for future priests to be well prepared to face the new challenges of society, so "it offers and requires them an intellectual training university rank. The effort that each particular Church makes in this regard has nothing to envy to the level of any School".

He stressed that the seminaries provide "a human and intellectual training in accordance with the dignity of the priesthood and with the most demanding professional standards of our society".

Different profiles in new vocations

On the other hand, Angel Marzoa commented that he has experienced in his environment a growth in vocations, with a more varied origin than in previous decades: "Some with their access to the university recently C, others with the university degree program already completed, some even after some years of professional work ; also those who resume their intellectual work - interrupted at the time by family needs - after a time of work. This diversity is very enriching".

However, he acknowledged that this is not a general tendency, which makes "the effort that many priests make truly heroic. Thanks to this dedication without schedule, without limits of kilometers, on numerous occasions 'without the right' to a day of rest, the faithful can always find the financial aid necessary to live their Christian life. It seems to me that society is not fully aware of the extent to which priestly life reaches in so many cases the point of sacrifice and dedication".

The President of the seminar of Tui Vigo made these statements on the occasion of the XXVI Course of update in Canon Law of the University of Navarra, with the participation of experts from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Colombia, Chile and France.
