Six weeks of experience in Argentina. This is what Lucía Irigoyen, Edurne Sáez, Leyre Azanza, Irene Yárnoz, Patricia Lacalle, Nerea Tornaría, María Rodríguez and Aitana Sánchez have lived during this past summer. The 3rd and 4th year students of the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra have attended the International Pedagogy Course.

During these weeks, the students have had theoretical classes at the Austral Universityand have rotated weekly through various centers for internships in different areas of pedagogy: health, school support, hospital pedagogy, intellectual disabilities, vocational guidance and disorders of development.

"What I liked the most was the rotation at the Day Center La Cata de Pilar, where they offer workshops (both social skills and executive functions) and a place at residency program for people with disabilities. One of the workshops that I liked the most was the radio workshop, where they have a program in which they talk about sports, music, conduct interviews... ", explains Nerea Tornaría, 5th year student of the Double Degree of Pedagogy and Education Primary.

María Rodríguez, from the same course of the Double Degree in Pedagogy and Education Children, highlights that what she liked the most was her internship at Austral Hospital, at area Hospital Pedagogy. "I have always been very curious about this field, even though it is one of the hardest. You face both children and adolescents who are going through a very complicated stage, such as an illness, a transplant or other complex situations. And your role is to be there, both for them and for their families, to guide them, support them and make their day-to-day lives easier," she says.

During these experiences, they have been able to apply some of the knowledge learned at class. For example, as Nerea explains, "Throughout the degree program we have had subjects related to learning difficulties, disability and people at risk of vulnerability, which have brought light and different points of view when carrying out the practices and thinking about different activities and dynamics according to the characteristics of the population with which we have worked in each center".

Likewise, the students highlight this opportunity as a learning and growth experience staff. "Along the way there are challenges, since the social reality of Argentina is very different and we have seen certain difficulties in terms of resources, social and economic needs, and many others. But with the financial aid, the support and the indications of the different professionals and my colleagues, we have been successfully overcoming everything", acknowledges María.

"I decided to take the course to be able to see the different areas of work of a pedagogue. Since, doing the internship in Spain, we are only in one area. In addition to getting to know the system educational of another country, I think it is an experience that has given me a lot of knowledge and learning for my future both professionally and staff"; Nera remarks.

This is the first edition of this summer course, whose goal is "to promote learning and competence development of student body Pedagogy, in an international context that expands their vision of the socio-educational world, explains Olga Lizasoain, Vice-Dean of Practicum of School of Education and Psychology. This course is aimed at students of the single Degree of Pedagogy and the double Degrees of Pedagogy and Teaching in Education Primary, and Pedagogy and Teaching in Education Infant.
