Nearly 200 students from ESO and Spanish schools participated in the third edition of sciRESEARCH, a high school diploma from Spanish schools have participated in the third edition of sciRESEARCH, a competition organized by the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra to promote scientific vocations among young people.

The students enrolled - from 3rd and 4th of ESO and 1st of ESO - came from schools all over Spain. high school diploma- came from schools all over Spain. Among them, the finalist schools were Peñarredonda (Galicia), Luis Amigó (Navarra), Aldovea (Madrid), Liceo Monjardín (Navarra), Canigó (Cataluña), Miravalles (Navarra), Montecastelo (Galicia) and IES Julián Zarco (Castilla la Mancha).

In total, 12 papers were selected in the final phase in four categories: ESO Biology, ESO Chemistry, high school diploma Biology and high school diploma Chemistry. The winner high school in the first category was Peñarredonda, from La Coruña, for the work "Fantastic creatures and where to find them (and how to avoid them)". In the ESO category Chemistry there were two winners: the schools IES Julián Zarco, from Cuenca, for "La sal de la vida"; and high school Liceo Monjardín, for "De los exoesqueletos de quinina a los objetos de plástico".

In high school diploma in Biology was in first place the work "Allergies and food intolerances in the high school", from high school Luis Amigó, Pamplona. And in Chemistry won the high school Montecastelo, from Vigo, for "Production of biogas and biodiesel using seaweed".

All the winning participants received a tablet each. The jury in charge of evaluating the works took into consideration the scientific rigor, interest and applicability of the projects, whose presentation consisted of a 10-minute exhibition , followed by a video of project and an explanatory poster in the style of those used by researchers at congresses.

SciRESEARCH is a school contest of research in science that pursues three objectives: to value science as a fundamental vehicle for human progress, to promote scientific vocations among schoolchildren and to encourage the values of scientific research , such as effort, observation and analysis skills or work in teamwork.
