As every year, the School Nursing School held the Nursing Summer School, a program aimed at international students from universities around the world, with whom the academic center has signed agreements partnership and exchange. Specifically, 73 students and professors from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Indiana and the Birmingham City University visited Navarra in this, the tenth edition.

"We have seen an increase in interest from universities that are among the best in the world, such as the case of Pennsylvania," explains Clara Cabrera, coordinator of the program at School, "which allows us to share and learn about other ways of studying nursing, as well as to make Navarra, our culture and surroundings known to foreign students." In her opening session, the University's student Vice President , Rosalia Baena, in addition to welcoming the students, stated that "we are very proud to host this program subject at the University, because it reflects the spirit of international outreach we are aiming at, receiving students from different parts of the world".

Each year an academic program is organized with different sessions around different aspects of nursing, such as the difference between the health systems of each country, person-centered care, the presence of nursing in the media, patient suffering or the role of the nurse in the face of climate change and natural disasters. On this occasion, various activities were also prepared at other points of the University of Navarra's campus , such as clinical scenarios at the Nursing Simulation Center and a reflection through art, with works by Tàpiés and Oteiza, on the nursing profession and nursing identity at the University of Navarra Museum.

As a novelty, not only researchers and professors from School Nursing participated, but also other visiting professors, such as Axel Wolf, from the University of Gothemburg, Lucia Ojewale Yetunde, from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, and Gwyneth Milbrath, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Tourism and gastronomy of Navarre and the Basque Country

Along with the academic program, students and teachers visited Pamplona, the royal palace of Olite, the castle of Javier and the Foz de Lumbier. They also visited San Sebastian. In addition, they enjoyed the famous Estafeta street tour, tasting the local gastronomic offer: "I think this program is very complete, because we are not only in class, but we also know the Navarrese culture," says Ashley, a third-year student from Birmingham. "What has attracted my attention the most is to know the natural environment of Navarra, the Foz de Lumbier seemed to me a magical place to get lost and reflect. They are very lucky to have such a special place," says Julia, a student from Pennsylvania. "It was the first time I've ever been out of my hometown, I've never seen the ocean, and seeing La Concha beach in San Sebastian was an experience I'll never forget," adds Erin from Indiana.
