On Thursday, September 11, Marta Ormazabal participated in the Women's Day organized by the San Sebastian International Open at the Real Club de Tenis. The event brought together other professionals such as Anabel Medina, tournament director; Isabel Busto, president of ADEGI and Fabrika and deputy CEO of Zucchetti; Nerea Ibáñez, president of ASPEGI; Idoia Azaldegui, general manager of Polymat Fundazioa; and Nuria Vegas, director of shopping centers at Unibail Rodamco Westfield. All of them shared their experiences, offered their vision of the future and inspired the attendees in the field of equality.

The professor at Tecnun mentioned values such as resilience and passion for the work and made an accredited specialization to the support needed during the beginning of a research degree program . "When I accompany young researchers, I try to convey to them that resilience and passion are their best tools. The results will eventually come. It is very important that they feel the support of their thesis supervisors and that they surround themselves with others who are in the same status," explained Ormazábal. In this line, her speech underlined the importance of making female references visible in order to encourage more girls to choose technical careers.

Ormazábal also presented Tecnun's initiatives to promote equality and the presence of women in research. In her words, "we seek to create an environment where the presence of women in research is not something exceptional, but something natural", a goal that the School of Engineering pursues by promoting innovation projects that integrate different perspectives. The professor pointed out that on our campus , professors devote half of their time to research, which gives students access to real projects from their first years of training and research.
