Pablo Urruchi, engineer and graduate in Big Data, has joined the Unit of Science of data of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. He comes from the field of consultancy service, where he has worked since 2014. He has also collaborated as professor in the degree scroll Own Big Data Specialist of the campus.
At ICS he will study social science problems from a statistical approach , using data of social networks and news media. "The field is very open, from correlating financial stocks with what people talk about on social networks like Twitter to making emotional maps," he explains.
"You can quantify social awareness of a particular topic or even determine ideology bias through statistical techniques applied to language," he adds.
And he points out that it can also be applied in areas such as psychology, "where you can, for example, identify depressive symptoms based on how you communicate.
