The Chair of language and Basque Culture of the University organizes a workshop on La Vizcaya (Aibar Valley).
It will take place on Saturday 18 September at the Ayesa Cultural Centre.

The Chair of language and Basque Culture of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra has organised a cultural and ethnographicworkshop on La Vizcaya (Aibar Valley). It will take place next Saturday, 18th September, in the Cultural Centre of Ayesa.
The activity will begin at 10:45 a.m. with a presentation at position by Alejandro Egea, Mayor of Ezprogui, and Naiara Ardanaz-Iñarga, from Etniker Navarra. Afterwards, Juan José Pons, lecturer at the University of Navarre, will talk about "Depopulated territories"; Ana Zabalza, lecturer at the academic centre, will give a session on "Crossroads: surnames of Biscay and its merindad"; and Gabriela Orduna, from the association Cederna Garalur, will deal with new initiatives for the development of the region. Juan Jesús Recalde, from Etniker-Navarra, will also be giving talks on the Trujal de Ayesa and the depopulated village of Guetadar in two scheduled guided tours.
The organisation will provide a free bus for those interested, which will leave on Saturday 18th at 9:45am from the Pamplona Tennis Club. Lunch, optional, will be at Ayesa. Reservations for the bus and/or lunch must be confirmed by email to mlarraza@unav.es before 15th September.
This activity, sponsored by the Government of Navarre, forms part of the programme "Bringing cultural heritage closer", with which the Chair de language y Cultura Vasca aims to highlight the ethnographic and cultural heritage of the villages of Navarre, based on the work carried out by the group Etniker Navarra.
