"Therapy is a complex process that can be investigated, which makes it possible to improve the care offered". This is the opinion of Martiño Rodríguez, researcher of the project 'Education ' of affectivity and human sexuality' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. The researcher organizes this Saturday 16 a symposium graduate 'Keys to manage the therapeutic withdrawal and new models in intervention with couples' that seeks to offer a space of training to couple therapists.

It will cover topics such as the prevention of therapeutic withdrawal , new forms of couple therapy and will present the latest advances of the research in this field. "In addition, there will be a session internship with the discussion of a case by a panel of three experts," added Rodriguez.

The symposium will be attended by national and international speakers from reference letter, such as Shayne Anderson, expert in therapeutic withdrawal and in research of psychotherapeutic processes; or Lee Johnson, expert in topics that influence psychotherapy, such as sleep or exercise. Both are therapists and researchers at Brigham Young University (USA).

Helping the one who financial aid

Rodriguez considers that this subject symposium is important because psychotherapists need spaces in which to update their training and to be in direct contact with the latest scientific advances in their field. "Thousands of people go to the psychotherapist in Spain every year," he assured.

Thus, for the expert, the research is essential for this training as it allows to offer an effective treatment, not only based on the opinion staff or on subjectivity. "By addressing these issues we improve the way they intervene and thus help to better assist couples with difficulties," he concluded.

The event will take place in the Main Auditorium of IESE's Campus in Madrid and is organized jointly with association Española para la research y development de la Terapia Familiar (AEI+DTF). It is also supported by the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra.
