The "greatest concern" of universities in the field of research are the processes of management of funding and human resources, according to the president of the Sectorial Commission of research and development+i of Crue Spanish Universities and President of the University of Cantabria, José Carlos Gómez Sal.

"Of the national research , more than 60% is developed in universities," recalled the president of the Sectorial Commission in a press conference on the occasion of the XXIII conference of research of the Spanish Universities, which ends on Friday, December 11 in the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona.

José Carlos Gómez Sal has affirmed that "a renewal of Structures is needed" and has valued "very positively" the recent approval of the State Agency of research. He also stressed the "importance" of holding the sectorial meeting in Pamplona, since "the Public University of Navarra and the University of Navarra have participated in its organization", which he considers a "special milestone", since "it marks the line of work that the Crue has set".

We want the Crue to represent all Spanish universities," he concluded. We would not like the distinction to be between public and private universities, but between good universities and others that are not".

The research in the universities of Navarra

The Vice President of research of the Public University of Navarra, Ramón Gonzalo, has assured that the universities of the region are "well positioned in productivity", since "taking into account the population of Navarra we are one of the most productive together with Catalonia".

Ramón Gonzalo pointed out that "there are some movements" to resume public aid, such as pre-doctoral contracts, and that projects that allow collaborations between universities, technology centers and companies should be encouraged, so as to maintain a "competitiveresearch in Navarra".

For her part, the Vice President of research of the University of Navarra, Icíar Astiasarán, affirmed that "in both universities there is good productivity and relevant research groups", since the commitment to research is a "very clear" goal .

"There have already been conversations with the new Government to have public funding aids to attract talent, pre-doctoral scholarships to motivate our good students to carry out thesis doctoral studies", explained Icíar Astiasarán, which in subject of research would allow "to place us in better positions at national and international level".
