118 students compete to be Spain's most brilliant biologists

22 schools participated in the regional phase of the Biology Olympiad, held at the University.

118 students from high school diploma from 22 schools in Navarra have participated in the regional phase of the Biology Olympiad, which has taken place at the University of Navarra, with representatives from Pamplona, Tafalla, Estella, Tudela, Zizur Mayor, Olite, Villava, Barañain, Falces, Funes, Larraga, Arre, Gorraiz, Burlada, Castejón de Ebro, Iraitzoz, Eltzaburu or Auza, among others.

The test -which could be done in Spanish or in Basque- consisted of 100 questions subject test on Biochemistry , Evolution and Diversity, Cytology, Metabolism, Histology, Physiology and Anatomy animal, reproduction and Genetics and microbiology and Immunity.

After the regional phase, the three students with the highest score will participate in the national phase, which this year has been organized by the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra. This quotation will take place between March 22 and 25. The eight best-ranked students will be selected from the national phase. The first four will take part in the international competition, which this year will take them to Coventry (Great Britain) between 23 and 30 July, and the next four will go to the Ibero-American competition, which will take place in September in Portugal.

The following schools were represented in the regional phase: Askatasuna BHI, Miravalles, IES Sancho III el mayor, IES Ibaialde, Jesuitas Pamplona, Luis Amigó, IES Ribera del Arga, IES Padre Moret-Irubide, San Cernin, IES Basoko, IES Navarro Villoslada, El Redín, IES Marqués de Villena, Benjamín de Tudela, Irabia-Izaga, Calasanz Escolapios, Teresianas, IES Tierra Estella, Liceo Monjardín, Ntra. Sra. del Huerto, Dominicas and Sagrado Corazón.
