Manolo Coloma: "The behaviour of a coach has to be impeccable, otherwise he is not qualified to coach, no matter how much sport he knows".
Fifty sports coaches attend the motivational session of the former national women's basketball coach
Superior Coach by the Spanish Basketball Federation and professor of leadership and work in team, Manolo Coloma said in his talk that "the first thing a coach has to take into account is that he is the reference of the people he is training".
On March 14, Coloma gave the session"Coaching youth is more than a degree scroll: the management of the commitment and talent of the players", organized by the Olympic Center programs of study of the University of Navarra, and attended by fifty coaches and sports trainers.
With more than 30 years of experience in the world of basketball, and the first to win a gold medal with the women's basketball team, Manolo Coloma also pointed out that"coaching is an art and probably the most wonderful profession there is, because you help people to improve". In this sense, he assured that sport is the best university because "you learn a lot of things: effort, perseverance, resistance to adversity, discipline, the ability to overcome, to know how to win and how to lose...".
"The first step of a coach is to convince that there is room for improvement, he or she is the manager of a process of change: it is the athlete who improves, coaches only induce this process of change and accompany. You have the opportunity to leave an incredible mark on the people who pass through your hands," he stressed.
Olympic Sports WeekThe University of Navarra's Olympic Center programs of study has celebrated the Olympic Sports Week, in partnership with the Pamplona City Council, the association Navarra de Clubs Collegiate Sports Clubs (ANACCOLDE), the Itaroa Shopping Center and Itaroa Cinemas.
The initiative aims to disseminate the values of sport, in addition to promoting the exchange of ideas on issues related to Olympism. To this end, various activities have been organized, in which both adults and children will be able to participate.
