Ildefonso Adeva, Professor Emeritus of the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, passed away.
He was a penitentiary canon of the Cathedral of Pamplona since 1970.

Ildefonso Adeva, Professor Emeritus of the School of Theology of the University, died on August 14 in Pamplona at the age of 93. A priest, graduate in Humanities, Philosophy and Theology, and doctor in Theology, he was a penitentiary canon of the Cathedral of Pamplona since 1970.
Ildefonso Adeva was born in 1929 in Castromonte (Valladolid), a town belonging to the diocese of Palencia, where he began his studies at seminar room programs of study . He studied the last years of Theology at Comillas and later specialized in Moral Theology in Rome. Upon his return, he took charge of the care of the seminar room Menor de Lebanza (Palencia) and taught at the seminar room Mayor.
Ordained priest in 1954, he graduated in Theology at the Pontifical University of Comillas (1954), where he specialized in ascetics and mysticism. In 1982 he obtained the doctorate in Theology at the University of Navarra.
Ildefonso Adeva arrived in Pamplona in 1967 and joined the School of Theology, where he carried out his teaching in the field of Moral Theology. His knowledge of Latin language led him to participate in the book Tratado sobre la training de los hijos de los nobles, directed by Vicente de Beauais.
Among his publications, Juan de Torquemada and his "Tractatus contra principales errores perfidi Machometi et turcorum sive saracenorum" (1459), Fray Luis de Zumárraga, "Regla cristiana breve"; or Cómo se preparaban para la muerte los españoles a finales del siglo XV, among others. A lover of Spanish Golden Age literature, he collaborated in some critical editions of Calderón de la Barca, such as A María el corazón / Pedro Calderón de la Barca; critical edition by I. Arellano, I. Adeva, F. Crosas, M. Zugasti.
