Tecnun, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, is launching a new Degree in Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence with the goal to train experts in data analysis and intelligent systems. "The Degree will train engineers capable of making decisions that improve society, from the productivity of a business to the diagnosis of a disease," explains Tecnun professor and coordinator of Degree, Idoia Ochoa. It should be noted that it will be launched next academic year 2024-25 at campus in San Sebastian and will have the support of companies such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), through Tecnun's Gipuzkoa City Science Lab, IBM, Google, Ceit, CAF and Amazon for the training of student body .

The coordinator, Idoia Ochoa, explains that Tecnun, after 15 years researching in this area, expands its academic programs in a context of "digital transformation" in which organizations need qualified professionals to work with massive amounts of data (Big Data) and solve complex problems. "In Medicine, diagnoses and pharmacological forecasts can be made using Artificial Intelligence, but this requires professionals who know how to store, manage, analyze and train these massive data ".

"Controlling the management of these data is a strategic and competitive advantage for all organizations because it improves decision making, financial aid to develop more accurate strategies or to better understand the sector and the needs of customers," she stresses. In the training there will be an important component of programming, mathematics, statistics and machine learning, i.e., a branch of artificial intelligence that develops techniques for systems to learn and make quick and accurate decisions. In this way, the students of Degree in Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence will learn to design and develop intelligent systems, such as ChatGPT, capable of learning autonomously after processing a multitude of data and determining behavioral patterns.
