Ana Barber graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra (1965-1970) and was part of the 3rd promotion. She joined as teaching assistant to the department of Animal Physiology, and four years later, in September 1974, she defended her thesis doctoral dissertation 'Active transport of sugars by the intestine of Cryptomphalus hortensis Müller', obtaining the degree scroll of doctor in Biological Sciences with award extraordinary.

She has been professor of the subjects "General Biology", "Human Physiology" and "Endocrinology", of several degrees; and especially of "Animal Physiology", subject of the licentiate degree of Biology, succeeding D. Francisco Ponz.

His research activity, in continuity with the topic of his thesis and with one of the lines of research of department, has focused on the study of intestinal absorption of nutrients and the activity, characteristics and regulation of membrane transporters. His work has been part of several funded research projects and has resulted in a hundred scientific publications, numerous communications to conferences, thesis , doctoral theses and projects Master's Degree.

For more than 15 years, she has been editor of the Journal of Physiology and Biochemistry, academic publication with an impact factor listed in the main instructions of data .
