The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities awards the award Nacional Fin de degree program to four graduates of the University.
They are Pablo Ruedas Batuecas (Chemistry and Biochemistry ), Rodrigo Ortega (Medicine), Xabier Morales (Biomedical Engineering) and Belem García (advertising and Public Relations).

Pablo Ruedas Batuecas, a native of Pamplona, and Rodrigo Ortega Pérez, from Carcastillo, graduates of the University of Navarra, have been awarded the award National End of degree program corresponding to the 2017-2018 academic year. Likewise, two other alumni of the academic center, the Valencian Belem García Moreno and Xabier Morales Férez, from San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa), have obtained this distinction awarded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities to the best academic records.
The four have won one of the 168 national prizes awarded in this call (56 first prizes, with an award of 3,300 euros; 56 second prizes, with 2,650 euros; and 56 third prizes, with an award of 2,200 euros) in one of the four categories: Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, and Architecture and Engineering.
Pablo Ruedas Batuecas, graduate in the double Degree of Chemistry and Biochemistry , has achieved the first award in the Science category, in the branch of Biochemistry . After graduating he did a Master's Degree in organic Chemistry and a doctorate in business in Germany thanks to a scholarship Marie Curie of the European Union. He is currently working as researcher in the department of Chemistry of the business pharmaceutical company Heidelberg Pharma (Germany). This award is a motivation for Pablo to continue studying and training to become a good scientist. "This recognition is in line with the vision I have of life: to work as a means to contribute to society, so that it becomes a fairer and healthier place to live."
Sports medicine, artificial intelligence and international marketing
A native of Carcastillo, Rodrigo Ortega, graduate in Medicine, has also obtained the first award at area in Health Sciences. During his residency program in Cardiology at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, Rodrigo completed a doctoral thesis in cardio-oncology, focusing on hematological tumors and arrhythmias. "It has been a study that has counted with the partnership of more than 40 hospitals and in which more than 4000 patients have participated. The project has been a success and I am sure it will help many cancer patients. I read the thesis last summer and I am delighted," he says. He now combines his dedication as a clinical cardiologist at Quirón Pozuelo with Olympia, a sports medicine center, where he aspires to develop one of his present and future interests: sports cardiology. "I want to focus on sports cardiology and cardiomyopathies, something that is very closely linked. Above all, in patients with hereditary heart disease, with risk when doing sports, the topic of sudden death, defibrillators...".
Xabier Morales Ferez, an engineer from San Sebastian, received the second prize award in the category of Engineering and Architecture. Xabier graduated in Biomedical Engineering at Tecnun-School of Engineering of the University, and specialized in medical imaging and artificial engineering. He studied a Master's Degree in Computational Biomedical Engineering at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2018-2019) and completed a doctorate at the same institution (2019-2024), focused on cardiac hemodynamics and computational modeling, during which he also carried out a stay as a researcher visitor at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute. He is currently working at Multiverse Computing at area Machine Learning, as an engineer specialized in artificial intelligence.
Belem García Moreno, graduate in advertising and Public Relations and Fashion Communication program, has won the third prize award in the category of Social and Legal Sciences. Belem develops her work from Dubai (UAE) and is an expert in international marketing and development global DTC (direct-to-consumer) branding for Europe and the Middle East. Previously, she developed her professional degree program in London, at business Just Spices, as manager of the international expansion of the brand, within the Kraft Heinz brands team; and management of the income statement, financial planning and strategic operations in regions core topic.
