School team wins national finals of CFA Research Challenge 2025

Another team won third place in this international financial analysis competition that brought together eleven universities and business schools.

A team of students from the School of Economics has won first place in the national finals of the CFA Research Challenge 2025an international financial analysis competition aimed at university students. The competition, held at the Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid, brought together eleven universities and business schools that carried out an exhaustive analysis of Inditex.

For four months, students Lucía Álvarez, Jose Antonio Estrella, Juan Diego Funes, Sergio López Ripol and Adrián Soriano, under the coordination of Breogán Vázquez, carried out a detailed assessment of the company. Their analysis covered core topic such as financial statements, the business model and the impact of the economic environment on results. Based on this research, the team formulated a recommendation to sell, supported by their current evaluation of the business.

Europe, Middle East and Africa regional finals in April

The CFA Research Challenge, which this year celebrates its twentieth edition, is a competition organized by the CFA Institute with the goal of promoting financial analysis among university students around the world. Thanks to this victory, the University of Navarra team will represent Spain in the EMEA regional finals, which will be held virtually on April 10 and 11. If they advance, they will travel to Chicago on May 5 to compete in the competition's world final.

Along with the winning team, another group of students from the School of Economics won third place in the national ranking. In this case, the team was made up of Napoleón Guzmán, Luis Stappard, Aidan O'Shea and Laura Tello, coordinated by Professor Miguel García de Eulate.
