Happiness, in the focus of the interdisciplinary research

The Institute for Culture and Society held its VII annual meeting around this topic, which is framed in the common topic that encompasses the different projects of the center: social links and development

More than fifty researchers met quotation at the ICS to discuss happiness from different disciplines. Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) to discuss happiness from different disciplines, on the occasion of the VII annual meeting . This issue is part of the common topic that encompasses the various projects of the center: social links and development.

During the opening of the event, the Vice President of research, Iciar Astiasarán, encouraged to establish links between high school and the different Schools around thematic axes.

"It is important to work together on major issues in which the University can become a world reference for research," he said. In that line, he stressed that "the project of the University of Navarra can only move forward with the commitment and effort of all."

Regarding the topic convergence of thi s edition of meeting, the scientific coordinator of the ICS, Ana Marta González, indicated that "many sciences feel challenged by this question: Psychology, Psychology, Medicine, Communication... consider that they have something to contribute to this indeterminate that we call happiness, regardless of how each one cooks the different ingredients to their liking. This is also the reason why in recent years happiness has been presented as an object of interdisciplinary research ".

Three round tables: presentations and discussion

The dialogue was established around three round tables. The first was moderated by Jesús López Fidalgo, director of the Statistics Unit. Alfonso Osorio and Carlos Beltramo, from the project 'Education of affectivity and human sexuality', intervened with the discussion paper 'Family, friends and development positive adolescent'; and Antonio Noguera, from the ATLANTES Program, with 'They have taken a step further than us'.

Anna Dulska, from 'Creativity and Cultural Heritagemoderated the next panel. This featured David Thunder, who spoke on 'Coexistence and happiness: some implications of social pluralism for the legitimization and structuring of political power'; and Alberto N. Garcia, who focused on 'What is happiness? A moment before you wish for more happiness'.

The last round table included Sofía Brotons, from 'Public discourseSergio Daga, from theNavarra Center for International Development, on 'Happiness and development'; and José Ignacio Murillo, from group 'Mente-cerebro', whose discussion paper was entitled 'Happiness, habits and neuroscience'. The moderator was Javier Bernácer, also researcher of this group.
