The first graduating class of Master's Degree in management of Pharma-Biotech Companies at School of Pharmacy and Nutrition did not have an easy time. In addition to the fact that it was the first graduating class, the pandemic broke out just a few weeks after starting its training internship in companies.

"Initially, no internship positions were cancelled, but the start of several scholarships was delayed," explains Maria Zarranz, manager Careers at School Pharmacy and Nutrition. Although we are fortunate given the sector we are in, approximately 50% of the students started their internships somewhat later than scheduled."

This late start has not been a problem for 23 of the 24 students who have completed the program are now working in a variety of companies, from startups to big pharmas, as well as agencies and consulting firms, among others. Zarranz stresses that "a relevant fact is that 17 students have been hired in the companies where they did their internships".

Some of the companies in which the students of the I promotion of the program have joined are 3P Biopharmaceuticals, Ascendo, Axispharma, Bioinnova, Cofares, Cantabrialabs, Cinfa, Enelife, Dextro, IQVIA, GSK, L'Oreal, Merck, OC Vigilance, Shionogi, Viveviotech, among others.

The programme

The Master's Degree in management of Pharma-Biotech Companies began its journey in 2019 and was launched by the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition in partnership with IESE. Its program is divided into two distinct periods: one of academictraining (face-to-face from September to February, at the University's headquarters in Madrid) in which all areas related to management are addressed, and another of training internship in-company training (9 months, starting in March). This program is completed with a complete program of conferences with professionals of the sector and different sessions of professional development whose goal is to help the student to make the leap to the working world.
