A step towards the future of the research: the II promotion of the Master's Degree in research in Social Sciences celebrates its graduation.
Eight students from five different countries and five different universities have studied MICS during the 2017/2018 academic year.

Eight students from Spain, Ecuador, France, Mexico and Peru have joined graduate in the second promotion of the Master's Degree in research in Social Sciences (MICS) of the University of Navarra. The ceremony was presided over by the program's director, Ana Marta González, scientific coordinator of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS); the deputy director, Inés Olza, ICS researcher; and Ramón Salaverría, member of committee Academic Master's Degree.
The graduating class includes Teresa Isabel Espinel, Roser Ferrer Xipell, Rachel François, Gabriela Pilar García Zavala, Regina Guzmán, María José Martínez Quesada, Fátima Salas Rodríguez and Pablo Úrbez.
Of the eight students, three have studied the MICS thanks to an scholarship from the Social Trends Institute; two through the Incentive Scholarships offered by the University of Navarra and Banco Santander; and one thanks to average scholarship obtained through the essay Competition in Social Sciences organized by the ICS.
multidisciplinarity e international outreachAt the beginning of the ceremony, Inés Olza reviewed some data of the academic report of the course. She pointed out that the graduates came from five countries, five different universities and very diverse backgrounds: Education, Pedagogy, Psychology, Music, Sciences of the business, Journalism and History or Philosophy and Journalism.
He also pointed out that, during this course, they have reinforced international outreach with professors such as Margaret Archer (University of Warwick; president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences), Richard Madsen (University of California, San Diego), Pierpaolo Donati (University of Bologna), Iain Wilkinson (University of Kent), Emanuela Mora (University of Milan) and framework Gemignani (Duquesny University).
Roser Ferrer, delegate of the graduating class, spoke on behalf of her classmates. She recalled the road they have traveled together in these months and the challenges they have faced until graduation.
Likewise, Ana Marta González spoke about the importance of the interdisciplinary research in Social Sciences to face the challenges of today's society. For his part, Ramón Salaverría recalled the importance of this Master's Degree for the training of those who want to dedicate themselves to the research, and encouraged the students to continue at contact during their future academic life.
During the ceremony, the students' Final Projects Master's Degree were also highlighted, which are closely related to Education, globalization and the family. Thus, students have been able to research on topics such as intercultural communication in companies, the validation of a scale of assessment parental, the ability of teachers to empower their students or lexicology in bilingual people.
Variety of fields and itinerariesThe MICS is coordinated by the Institute for Culture and Society and counts with the direct partnership of the Schools of Communication, Law, Education and Psychology, Nursing, and Philosophy and Letters. It is accredited as an official Master's Degree by the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation.
It is offered as a gateway to entrance for students who wish to enter the interdisciplinary research in the Social Sciences. Its training program allows students to specialize in six tracks: Communication, Geodemography, Linguistics, Education and Psychology, Law and Nursing. There is also the possibility of pursuing a double pathway.
